Toe-Drag Stop

Safe & Controlled Skating
Skater extends left or right leg behind them, bends both knees, points rear foot down dragging the toe-pic to come to a complete stop. Extend arms for balance while stopping.

Backwards Stop

The skater leans forward while keeping their body straight and firm and allows the skates to roll onto the front wheel until the toe-pic of each skate is engaged with the ground. If properly done, there should be pressure on the bottom of the toe-pics and the front wheel of each foot. The heels of both skates will be raised up and the remaining wheels will be off the ground. At this point, the skater may lift one foot and jam the toe-pic of that foot into the surface to further facilitate the stopping motion if necessary.

Tight Turn

Upon encountering a sharp turn at a slow to moderate speed, the skater may place the toe-pic closest to the direction he wants to turn into the ground and use the opposite leg and foot with the appropriate angle to create an inside edge arc to pivot around the toe-pic until he has changed direction sufficiently to push off of the engaged toe-pic and continue on his way.
